ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY

District-Provided Access to
Electronic Information, Services, and Networks for Employees

The Shelby County Board recognizes that telecommunications and other new technologies have transformed the ways that information may be accessed and communicated. The Board generally supports access by employees to information and communication resources and believes it incumbent upon employees to use this privilege in an appropriate and responsible manner.

The network is provided for staff enhancement of job performance. Use of Shelby County Schools' telecommunications and electronic information sources will be permitted as needed for conducting research, accessing information relative to job performance and professional development, and communicating. Employees utilizing district-provided network access are responsible for professional behavior on-line. Violations of the terms and conditions stated in Regulation 4100 may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

The Board authorizes the Superintendent to develop and implement procedures to provide guidance in the appropriate and ethical use of electronic information, services, and networks for employees.
