ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY

District-Provided Access to
Electronic Information, Services, and Networks for Employees


  1. Use of District-Provided Network Resources
    Employees utilizing district-provided access to Local Area Networks (LAN) or Wide Area Networks (WAN) must receive clearance from their principal in local school settings or department head in system-wide sites. All participating employees, both certified and classified, are responsible for professional behavior on-line. Access to network services will be provided based on the need to fulfill job responsibilities.

    School site administrators or personnel authorized by the superintendent may review files and communications to maintain system integrity and insure that employees are using the system responsibly. Files stored on district servers are not private nor will they be maintained indefinitely.


  2. Prohibited Uses of District-Provided Network Resources
    The following uses of district-provided access to network resources are not permitted:

    1. To violate existing Board policy or procedure or any local, state, or federal statute;

    2. To access, upload, download, or distribute pornographic, obscene, or sexually explicit material;

    3. To transmit obscene, abusive, racist, sexually explicit, or threatening language;

    4. To vandalize, damage, or disable the property of another individual or organization;

    5. To access another individual's materials, information, or files without authorization;

    6. To violate copyright or otherwise use the intellectual property of another individual or organization without permission; and

    7. To engage in activities for commercial profit, for product advertisements, or for political lobbying.

  3. Sanctions
    Violations of the terms of this procedure may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. When applicable, law enforcement may be involved.
