The quality of the administrative staff is a major component of an effective, productive, educational program. The system will make every effort possible to attract the best qualified administrative personnel.
The best qualified applicant shall be selected for each administrative position without regard to race, color, creed, national origin; nor shall any person be denied employment because of age, sex, marital status, or place of residence within Shelby County.
CREATING/DELETING ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS
The Superintendent with the assistance of appropriate administrators is responsible for the assessment of administrative personnel needs and shall provide to the Board at least one week prior to budget presentation the system organizational chart and job description for new or revised administrative positions.
POSTING NOTICE
The Superintendent shall insure that notices of all available administrative positions are posted so that all employees may be aware of the vacancies. Notices will include job title, qualifications, responsibilities and duties, and application procedure. Additional methods of notification of administrative vacancies or newly created positions, including newspaper advertisements, may be utilized if necessary.
APPLICATIONS
All persons to be considered for an administrative position must file an application.
SCREENING AND INTERVIEW
The Superintendent and personnel department head shall be responsible for implementing procedures. The Board will be advised of the procedure.
SELECTION
The Superintendent shall make his/her selection from qualified candidates. 1
The Superintendent will provide early and prompt notification to the Board regarding the applicants selected for administrative positions.
