EQUAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES


The right of a student to participate fully in classroom instruction and extracurricular activities shall not be abridged or impaired because of age, sex, race, religion, national origin, pregnancy, parenthood, marriage, or for any other reason not related to his/her individual capabilities.

Students and/or their parents/guardians may present complaints regarding discrimination as set forth in the following statutes:

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964;
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972;
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973;
Age Discrimination Act of 1975;
Title II of the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990; and
To the Shelby County Schools Federal Rights Coordinator for Students.
