INSTRUCTIONAL
TECHNOLOGY
Instructional
technology coordinates the efforts to provide access
to quality computer hardware, software, and resources
in the District. One of the major roles is to plan
for adequacy and equity among schools in reviewing
instructional technology purchases. Technology Specialists
supervise the activities of the Curriculum
Technology Trainers (CTTs) who
work directly with teachers and students to infuse
the curriculum with technology. The Specialists and
Trainers also promote and provide opportunities for
curriculum integration and technology skill development
for students, teachers, and administrators through
on-going sustained staff development.

TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT
Technical
support to facilitate the use of technology in the
classroom is also provided through this department.
The School
Technology Support (STS) group
is comprised of school-based technicians who perform
tier-one hardware and software support. They work
closely with the Curriculum Technology Trainers to
promote the effective use of instructional and administrative
technology in their assigned schools.

MANAGEMENT
Student
Management is another area of responsibility for
this department. PowerSchool is the centralized student
data base that maintains student demographic data,
grades, attendance information, discipline data,
and test scores. It is also used for scheduling student
classes. PowerSchool provides real-time access to
students’ grades and attendance for not only
employees but for students and parents as well.

INFRASTRUCTURE
The
District’s technology infrastructure is also
maintained by personnel in this department. The staff
provides a secure, high-speed Wide Area Network and
maintains Local Area Networks at fifty-five locations.
These networks allow for the daily business functions
to be conducted smoothly as well as enable innovative
instructional resources to be delivered to the classroom.
In addition, personnel maintain adequate phone lines
for each school and administrative location.
