Dear Altruria Parents,

It is indeed a pleasure to serve you as the principal of Altruria Elementary School. On behalf of the administrators, faculty and staff, I personally welcome each of you. A very special welcome is extended to our new parents and students. I encourage you to become an active part of Altruria Elementary.  You are vital to the success of our school.

Our PTA is among the finest in Shelby County. They have always served the needs of our students in an exceptional manner. The enthusiasm, commitment and concern shown by the PTA members is greatly appreciated. Their contributions continue to enhance the educational goals and purposes of our school.

I am so proud and honored to serve you as principal. In my years at Altruria, I have genuinely enjoyed working with our wonderful boys and girls. All personnel in the school and at central office have made a commitment to upholding the tradition of educational excellence in the Shelby County Schools. Altruria has an outstanding State Report Card.

Our students continue to perform well on the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) test. We review and utilize test results annually as a diagnostic tool for improving our instructional program. We are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and have a School Improvement Plan that focuses on our specific school needs.

Our enrichment programs include APEX, Cultural Arts, Science Fair, Safety Patrol, Student Council, CLEAN Club, Beta Club, ELT Club and the 5th Notes Chorus. In addition, our students are involved in numerous poetry, essay and poster contests. Our PTA promotes other child advocate activities and programs throughout the year.

The faculty and staff of Altruria continue to pledge our best efforts to serve the students of the school and to work with the parents towards achieving our educational goals. All of us are important parts of a team that must work together for our children, My door is open to each of you. Please do not hesitate to call on me if I can
