The Hamp Dobbins Memorial Garden is a loving effort on the part of the school, and the PTA to recognize the contributions of Mr. Hamp Dobbins, who was the former director of the Shelby County Environmental Improvement Commission. This garden includes mostly plants for butterflies. It has four arbors with Clematis, Carolina Jessamine, Crossvine, and Red Honeysuckle. Recycled prison bars from the old downtown Memphis Jail support Cypress Vine and Moon Flower Vines. It also houses an herb garden and a Tennessee bed. Mr. Dobbins passed away in 1997 and our school wanted to recognize and commemorate his efforts on behalf of environmental education in our area. The dedication of this garden was on Earth Day, 1998, a fitting day to give tribute to a great environmentalist.

Through the hard work and dedication of students, parents, and teachers, this empty space between the main building and the portables was transformed into the beautiful teaching area seem below.
