Lane Woodland Gardens is a cooperative effort of the school, the P.T.A. and the community with the support of the Shelby County School System. The initial plans for the school protected the environmental integrity of the 25 acre campus by placing the building away from the street and saving large tracts of wooded land. Tree study plaques of the main hardwood trees on our campus such as oak, maple, hickory, sweet gum, ash, cedar, etc. are available for teachers to use with the students. A fern gully is being developed to represent the east Tennessee natural areas. the area includes an outdoor amphitheater and benches. Lane Woodland Gardens is an outdoor classroom project designed to utilize and enhance the wooded area for the hands-on outdoor classroom, nature trail, butterfly garden, and wildlife habitat.
