The Monet Sensory Garden was created in the fall of 1997 outside our art classrooms. This area is designed for classes to study concepts of art in an outdoor setting. The garden is named for the great French Impressionist artist, Claude Monet, who also had his own beautiful garden at his home in Giverny, France. Students have studied about his garden and are learning about the types of plants that will grow best in our new garden. The students and teachers designed and planted a color wheel of flowers. It has a splendid spring display of varied Azleas. We have added picnic tables, a bridge, arbor, sundial, and bird bath with funds generated from the Box Tops for Education program. The art teachers use this garden for many of their lessons.
