Students at Chimneyrock
Elementary School are involved in different school and extracurricular
activities. Listed below are some of the offerings. We hope to have
more opportunities when school begins.
The Chimneyrock Student Tech Team
meets before school with the Chimneyrock Tech Coach. The team consists
of students in the fourth grade who have good conduct and are recommended
by their teachers. They have the opportunity to practice their computer
skills as well as learn new skills. These students are expected
to return to their classrooms as student leaders in technology.
Enrichment Math meets
after school from 4:30 - 5:30. Student use computers and technology
to advance their math skills.
Students from first grade through fourth grade meet
in the library before school on selected days to read books and take
Accelerated Reader tests. Students are enrolled on a first come first
serve basis. Parent volunteers and student assistants help all students
with their reading and testing.
The Environmental Club
is an after-school hands-on activity that involves 3rd and 4th graders.
Each week the E-Club has activities from the Golden Ray Series of
the Junior Master Gardener taught by a Master Gardener. At the end
of the semester, they receive a certificate and are a part of the
Junior Master Gardener Program.
The Chimneyrock Bird
Watchers Club is a before school activity for 3rd graders. They learn
how to identify the different birds in our campus backyard. Each week
they tally bird counts to see what birds are visiting and check for
new birds to our area. Club members learn how to take care of bird
feeders and bird habitat.
The music teachers at
Chimneyrock offer an after school music program that teaches theory
using computer software. Participants also experiment with Orff instruments
and different musical genres.
