Car Lane Safety Procedures

In order to provide a safe environment for our students at arrival and dismissal time, the following procedures must be followed:

  1. Students will be admitted to the building at 8:45 a.m., regardless of weather conditions. (Students who are dropped off are unsupervised until 8:45.)

  2. Parents should make one line in the drop off lane. Parents will be 'waved to the front spot' by a teacher. To help keep cars loading/unloading at all times, parents should pull all the way up until instructed to stop by a teacher.
    • To allow for a speedy drop off, have student ready to leave the car when you pull up. If you need to sign papers, give lunch money, etc. please pull up and park in the parking lot beside the portables.
  3. FOR YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY, If you choose to park to load/unload your child, you must cross the traffic lane and escort your child across the traffic lane.

  4. ARRIVAL TIME, Students who are car riders may be dropped off at 8:45.
However, after 9:00, students are considered late and a parent must come inside the office and sign in the student.

  5. NOTE: FROM 9:00 a.m. UNTIL 4:00 p.m., CROSSWALKS TO THE PORTABLES WILL BE BLOCKED OFF TO THROUGH TRAFFIC. THIS WILL ALLOW STUDENTS TO 'BE SAFE' WHILE GOING TO/FROM THE PORTABLES. PARENTS MAY USE THE WEST UNION OR WILKINSVILLE ENTRANCE TO ENTER & LEAVE. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THE CHAINS BE MOVED DURING SCHOOL HOURS.

  1. DISMISSAL: Students will be called to load by lining up on the main sidewalk. Please pull all the way up and your child will walk to your car and load after you come to a complete stop and the car is put into PARK.

  2. To keep cars from backing up on Wilkinsville Road, cars may pull into the school lot in a 'double row', and merge forward alternately into a single line for loading.

  3. If a student will be picked up by someone other than their parents (or usual pickup person), their teacher must be notified in writing. The other person must be listed in the office as an Emergency Contact and will be asked for identification. This includes students going home to spend the night with others.

  4. Students have been given instructions concerning dismissal. They are to wait on the sidewalk with their grade level until their name is called to go to line up for their ride.
