Clubs and Extra Activities

As Lakeland will be announcing the clubs and extra activities for the 2003/2004 school year soon, look for information about tutoring before and after school, Technology Club and Lakeland CUBS info, news about Peer Tutoring as well as Peer Mediators, and information about our Recorder Ensemble.

An ongoing activity for Lakeland is our immersion program. All our classrooms are part of a "family" of multi-age students. In the last two years, we have studied and participated in day-long activities about lions (we even had a Lakeland Lion poem), Argentina, Egypt, Canada, and the USA. This year, blue hall classrooms along with their kindergarten friends are studying England and Wales, and will present in October. Yellow hall classrooms and their kindergarten cohorts are studying Denmark for their immersion project and will present in January. Purple hall and their kindergarten friends' classroom immersion project is Thailand and will present in April. Schoolwide activities will take place that will share all we have learned with the other families through hands-on activities and presentations. If you have something to share about any of this year's countries and would like to help with one of these immersion projects, please contact the office and let them know of your special talents and interests.
