The one-story school building has the capacity for 1,000 students with sixty-four (64) teaching stations which include: a computer lab, a learning center, art and music classrooms, plus a gymnasium. Eight (8) classrooms are provided for students with special needs. A school-wide computer data network is provided. Every instructional space has internet access.

The library and administrative offices are located in the center of the building to provide easy access for students and parents. The library has an internet research station and utilize a computer based check-out/check-in system. The cafetorium includes a platform area for programs and performances. Passenger car and bus traffic is separated on the campus for safety.

Title One Notification

Millington Elementary is considered a Title One School. A Title One School receives federal funding in excess to the local funding provided by the Shelby County Board of Education. The federal funding is used to support the educational program here at Millington Elementary. The funds are spent on materials and equipment to support our instructional program.

The faculty and staff give input into the needs of the school. Parents also have a chance to take part in the decision making as to how the funds are spent. A Title One Parent Survery was available at registration. I hope you took the opportunity to complete the survey. If you did not complete the survey, please ask for a copy in the office.

If you are interested in being on the Title One Parent Advisory Committe please submit a letter to me stating your wish to serve on the Title One Parent Advisory Committee. A meeting will be scheduled early in the first semester and again in the second semester. I encourage you to serve on this committee.

Rick Lunsford
