Sycamore Elementary

Administration

Dr. Patricia Butler, Principal

My vision for Sycamore Elementary is best expressed by Ernest Boyer in his book The Basic School. "Children are, of course, always learning. They learn as they touch the earth, feel the grass, dig into the sand. Children learn as they chase pigeons in the park, study drifting clouds, and watch ants scurrying across city sidewalks." My standard of excellence for Sycamore Elementary is to have a teaching and learning environment where children are provided a myriad of opportunities to learn, and the ways in which they learn are respected and cultivated.

Dr. Butler graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Memphis State University. She has also received her Master's Degree and her Doctorate. She has been a part of educating children for 29 years, 22 of those years with Shelby County Schools.
