 There are many projects for parents and students to become more involved in. Here's a list of some of those:

Food Drive for the Collierville Food Pantry

Students, teachers and parents participate in a canned food drive all November long in this School Service Project for the Collierville Food Pantry.

Collierville Clothes Closet

This organization gives free clothing to those in need, whether from misfortune or disaster. This year the PTA will collect donated clothing from families the first Tuesday of every month in this school service project.

Open House / Fall Book Fair

This biggest, happiest night of the school year happens during October. Come rub elbows with fellow parents, teachers, and students of Tara Oaks. Check out the facilities or buy some books for your kids at the Book Fair!

Book Fairs

One in the Fall, in conjunction with the Open House and another in the Spring to benefit the Library.

Kids' Kan Food Drive

Students participate in the Shelby County PTA Council's Food Drive to benefit the Memphis Food Bank in March.

Annual School Picnic

A big blast to close out the school year! Outdoor picnic with entertainment.

Little Artists in the News!

Every month a grade level expresses their thoughts in word and art on subjects ranging from holidays to seasons to friends and parents. Selected entries are published in The Independent and the Collierville Herald.

Reflections

The National PTA sponsors a national showcase / competition for all children in art, literature, photography, and music. There are winners & awards at the local, county, state and national levels.

Meet the Masters

Students view and learn to appreciate great works of art. Be an Art MOM or DAD!

Artists in the Schools

Volunteers will be needed to guide visiting artists from classroom to classroom to expose children to various art forms.

May Day

A spring "Olympiad" of fun and games for all grade levels.

Safety Patrol

For fifth grade students, a chance to assist in the safe arrival and departure of their fellow students.

Chorus

Open to all students in 5th grades interested in singing in chorus. This group meets in the mornings before school starts.

Science Club

Open to all students in 4th and 5th grades interested in science. These groups meet in the mornings before school starts.

Recycling

Our school recycles newspapers, magazines, and other paper products. Telephone books are also collected for recycling purposes.
