DIVERSIFIED TECHNOLOGY I IA131

Diversified Technology I incorporates the three clusters
within technology education-communication, transportation,
and materials and processes. Students will explore the
different technological areas to aid them in career
decisions, team work, communications skills, and computer
applications skills. Emphasis is placed upon problem solving
and creative thinking.

COMMUNICATIONS/MEDIA I IA251

This course is designed to provide students with basic
understanding of and competencies relating to potential
careers within the clusters of drafting and design,
photography, and reproduction graphics. This course will
also provide practical applications related to the technical
aspects of communication. In addition, leadership skills
will prepare the student for the sense of ethical standards,
accountability and team effort essential to careers in
technology.

AIR-COOLED ENGINES I TI255
Grades 11, 12
Air Cooled Engines I seeks to prepare students to enter
a small-engine trade. The following objectives specifically
explain how the primary goal is to be achieved: to teach
good safety habits, to teach basic knowledge of internal
combustion engines and related systems, to repair gasoline
engines such as boats, chainsaws, lawnmowers, etc., to
locate the causes or malfunctions, to replace and/or repair
parts, to clean and adjust carburetor and magnetos, and to
help each student become suitably proficient for entry in
the job market.

COSMETOLOGY I TI265 Grades 10,
11
Cosmetology is designed to teach the following skills:
arranging, dressing, curling, waving, bleaching or coloring
the hair of any person; the use of cosmetic preparations;
and manicuring. Students receive actual cosmetology hours
based upon their attendance and grades. All hours earned are
transferable to a post secondary cosmetology school for
completion and licensure. (Students are required to purchase
a cosmetology kit&emdash;approximate cost $140.00.) In
addition, the purchase of workbooks (approximate cost
$40.00) is encouraged.
