DRESS REGULATIONS

Guidelines are put into effect for the safety and positive conduct of our students. All students must adhere to the MCHS “standard dress code” as presented by “dress committee” and voted on by parents.

MCHS “standard dress code”

Bottoms:
No cargo pockets
No lounge or jogging pants (pajama wear or sweat pants)
No holes or tears in clothing
Shorts, skirts, dresses, and top of slits in skirts must be at least knee length

Tops:
Shirts and tops must have sleeves (short, medium or long)
No low cut tops
Shirts or tops must have collars or high crewneck line (turtlenecks or mock turtle necks are acceptable)
No crop tops. Shirts should cover the midriff.

  1. MCHS dress code will additionally be in compliance with the SCS Board Policy #6205 and the following will be strictly enforced:
    1. Pants of appropriate size must be worn at the waist
    2. Belts must be worn if pants have belt loops
    3. Shirts must be tucked into clothing (includes both male and female attire)
    4. Open waist length sweaters, jackets or sweatshirts of appropriate sized may be worn inside school for warmth as long as appropriate shirt in tucked in underneath.
    5. No rubbersole shower shoes
    6. Distracting dress may include but is not limited to: Extremely tight tops, pants, or dresses; tops that bare the midriff, tank tops with spaghetti straps, bagging off the waist pants, fishnet shirts; short skirts, shorts or dresses; spandex shorts or pants; transparent clothing or see through material; any clothing or jewelry that pictures or advertises substances that are illegal by law for minors, that suggest or display violence, sexuality, gang activity or involvement, or derogatory remarks of an ethnic nature.
    7. Clothing worn on campus is not to contain, but not limited to: the Rebel flag, Malcolm X, It’s A Specific Race Thing, Coed Naked, Play Boy Bunny, Snowman, Big Johnson, gang affiliation (using #s or signs), drugs, alcohol, tobacco products or any sexual or degrading inference.
    8. Caps, hats, or any other type of headgear are not permitted on campus during the school day. Caps should be left at home. During the school day, visible caps will be confiscated. These caps will not be returned. At all after school activities, bibs of caps must be worn in standard fashion, not turned to the back or side. Hoods may not be worn in the building.
    9. ***Exceptions for hats: cold weather hats that may be worn to school but immediately removed and put away in the building and classrooms. Failure to comply: hat will be confiscated and not returned. Also, students having medical reason or recent surgery resulting in lost hair may wear protective headwear with administrative permission.
    10. Combs, pencils, picks, etc. should not be worn in hair.
    11. No tongue of facial piercing allowed at school.

  2. Violation of dress code will result in the following reprimand:
    1st offense: contact parent to bring change and immediate ISS
    2nd offense: mandatory meeting with parent/guardian 2 days ISS
    3rd offense: mandatory meeting parent/guardian one day OSS
    any other offenses will result in multiple days OSS or assignment to alternative school.
