Previous News for 2008

The 8th Grade Band performed Sunday, November 9th, at the Depot Square in Arlington. The program was dedicated to World War II Veterans with performances of "American Patrol, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, American Anthem, Marches of the Armed Forces, and God Bless America." Congratulations to the band for an inspiring celebration of music. Thanks to Hugh Lamar, Vice Mayor of Arlington for the organization of the event.

Previous Notes for the Veterans Program: Band students should report to the performance site by 2:25. Students must be in full uniform. Please bring music and instrument. The school will be locked. All stands and chairs and percussion equipment will be ready for you when you arrive. Percussionists must bring sticks and mallets. Tuba players must bring mouthpieces. Parents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. The program begins at 3:00 and should be completed by 4:00.

The 7th Grade Band performed for the Faculty on Thursday, November 6th. The band received a letter after the performance. "What a stunning performance this morning! It was certainly wonderful and inspiring way to start the morning for all staff and teachers here at AMS. I'm sure your talent and the obvious hard work and dedication you displayed this morning impressed everyone at your performance. I think that you all have shown us how well determination and practice can pay off. Thank you again for your extremely professional and amazing presentation!"

7th and 8th graders have been registered for All West Tennessee Auditions scheduled for December 13th in Jackson, Tennessee. Students who have paid the AMS Band Participation Fee will be allowed to make the trip. A schedule will be sent home once WTSBOA finalizes performance times. This will occur a few days before the trip, so make plans for an All Day event until you receive your bus assignment and performance time.
