Go Jim Go!
Over the past year, Shadowlawn Middle School students have helped raise more than $1,400 for LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center in conjunction with the annual “Go Jim Go!” fundraising campaign. On Friday, WREG meteorologist Jim Jaggers stopped by Shadowlawn during his ride across the Mid-South to celebrate the school’s contribution. A big chunk of the donations came from Friday’s Hat Day fundraiser, which brought in about $822. Overall, Shadowlawn’s $1,416 donation was twice as much as last year’s. Sheryl Dowell’s homeroom raised the most money and won a pizza party from LeBonheur. Shadowlawn’s Builders Club sponsored this year’s “Go Jim Go!” fundraising event. School sponsors for Shadowlawn’s Builders Club are Clinton Smith, Trina Luttrell and Amy Sysak.

Special Olympic Fundraising!
Shadowlawn Middle School sent its best bowlers to Bartlett Lanes over the weekend to join Memphis Grizzlies guard Mike Conley and some of his coaches and teammates for Conley’s Bowl N’ Bash fundraiser. The event helped raise more than $10,000 for the Memphis Special Olympics. “Team Shadowlawn” consisted of Clinton Smith, Phyllis Scott, Kirbrina Carroll, Sandra McKelvy and Michael Beard. They had a lot of fun bowling and hanging out with the Grizzlies players and coaches, including Conley, Rudy Gay, Sam Young and Head Coach Lionel Hollins.

Bartlett Education Foundation Grant Winner!
There were a lot of smiles around Shadowlawn Middle School last week when representatives of the Shelby County Schools Education Foundation dropped in. The SCSEF awarded a $500 TEE Grant to the school, which will help fund a series of virtual field trips to Colonial Williamsburg. Ms. Crossett, the school’s librarian, applied for the grant to support social studies and science standards. These virtual experiences will be available to every student and teacher at Shadowlawn. Congratulations!
