Woodstock Middle School’s Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Policies

Where we learn our ABC’s through RST
Achievement Based Curriculum through Respect, Safety, and Teamwork!
The School wide discipline plan is based on our mission statement.
All members of the Woodstock team are expected to do the following:

AGGIE Character Skills Program
Our discipline plan strives to develop the following characteristics in each student.
We refer to these as “Life Skills.”  They are listed below:

AGGIE CHARACTER SKILLS
“Aggies P.I.C.K. the Right Response”

Aggie Character Skills:
1.  Problem Solving- We will seek to find
Solutions to problems in our school and
never play the role of an instigator.
2.  Initiative- We will strive to be the best by
being prepared, on task, and ready to learn.
3.  Cooperation-We will follow directions the
     first time given.
4.  Kindness-We will respect others by
speaking in an appropriate manner about
     appropriate subjects using appropriate
     language.
5.  Respect-We will respect people and
property by keeping our hands, feet, and
     objects to ourselves.
6.  Responsibility-We will use good judgment
and expect to be held accountable
     for our actions.

There are also nine additional behaviors in which
students are expected to display:

1. We will follow directions the first time given.

Woodstock Middle School faculty and
staff strive to help each student receive
the best education possible.  To
maintain an orderly, effective learning
environment, students are expected to
listen to their teachers and follow
directions without argument or
discussion.

2. We will be on time and on task with the
designated materials.

Woodstock faculty and staff understand the
importance of punctuality and responsibility.
Students are expected to arrive for class on time with
the necessary materials such as textbook, paper, pencil,
and any other require supplies.

3. We will raise our hands and wait to be
recognized before speaking or leaving our seats.

Woodstock Middle School faculty and
staff maintain a courteous environment
based on cooperation and respect.
When students are recognized before
speaking or leaving their seats,
classroom distractions are minimized,
thus respecting other students’ right to
learn.  Even when cooperative learning
groups or project-based activities are
assigned, it is important for students to
follow the procedures and respect the
 rights of others.

4. We will respect people and property by
keeping our hands, feet and objects to
ourselves.

Woodstock Middle School faculty and
staff feel that the best learning
environment is free of dangers and
unnecessary distractions. Students are
expected to refrain from any physical
contact with each other, which can be
harmful or annoying to others.

5.  Any student who defaces, damages or
destroys school property will be
required to repair or replace the
damaged item and will also face further
disciplinary action.

Except in cases of unavoidable accidents,
students are liable for all damage they
may do to school property. Students
can best show their appreciation by
taking care of the building, equipment and grounds.

6.  We will not have grooming aids,
book bags, purses, heavy
coats, gum, food or toys in the classroom.

Woodstock Middle School faculty and
staff want students to recognize the
behaviors, which are appropriate for the
classroom.  Grooming aids should be
used in the restroom only.  These
should not be shared due to the
possibility of promoting head lice.
Book bags and purses pose a danger in
aisles and can be used to conceal
unauthorized items.  Heavy coats are
not appropriate in the classroom for
several reasons, including taking up too
much space in already crowded areas.
Food should be consumed in the cafeteria.

7.  Students are not allowed to bring food
out the cafeteria.

8.  Gum is NOT allowed anywhere on the
school campus due to students’ choices
of inappropriate disposal.

9.  We will respect others by speaking in an
appropriate manner about appropriate
subjects using appropriate language.

Woodstock Middle School faculty and
staff understand that our students’
communication skills are developing,
just as their minds and bodies are
developing.  It is one of our many goals
to help our students learn to
communicate effectively without the use
of profanity.  Students are also
expected to speak in a respectful manner
to faculty, staff, and peers. In order to
encourage students in choosing the right
behavior we have several programs in
place; guidance, character education,
before school detention, in school
suspension, encouragement of
parent/teacher communication, etc.

When a student fails to demonstrate Aggie Character Skill, teachers will follow these steps:

Step 1 -  Student will receive a warning,,
Step 2 - Teachers will contact parents,
Step 3 -  Student assigned detention,
    Step 4 -  Parent conference,
Step 5 -  Student assigned detention, and
    Step 6 -  Office referral.

Students involved in a physical confrontation
with another person while attending school,
or a school-sponsored activity, will be referred
to the office. The student could be suspended
   from school.
•  Drugs and/or alcohol are not permitted on
campus. Students using either, or in
possession of either, may be suspended from
school and are subject to arrest.
Students are not allowed to have electronic
   devices (cameras, CD players, gameboys
radios, iPods, mp3 players, etc.) in the
   building nor on buses.
• Cell phones are NOT allowed.

Please note: Woodstock Middle School enforces no tolerance toward fighting, derogatory comments of an ethnic origin, disrespect, insubordination, and defiant attitudes toward faculty and staff. Such behavior could result in an automatic out-of-school suspension.  Any student suspended from Woodstock Middle School must have a readmittance hearing with an administrator. The parent/legal guardian must be present during the hearing.

If we do these things, we are able to learn and truly achieve a higher level of learning in a safe educational setting.
