In researching for the screenplay, you are a
myth historian
of various Greek myths, their
characters, and their orgins. You will read several different myths,
look at the characters within, and you will look at those who told
the myths- the minstrels. You have several different tasks that you
are to use the web sites and other outside resources to complete.
Scroll down to go to web sites available to you.
- First, read ten myths and
complete the chart
found at this site. (You will need to print this out in order to
share with you group member(s). List at least 18 characters, (14
heroes or heroines and four monsters). You will need to print the
chart two times. In completing this, you will be able to find
similarities between the various heroes and heroines. You will
also be able to see the elements of the different monsters. This
will be useful to you later in writing your own myth.
- The last thing that you need
to do is to look at the information available on Homer and other
minstrels. You will research Homer and find if he actually wrote
The Illiad and The Odyssey. Take a stand. Did he
even exist? If he did exist, what was his role as a minstrel? What
role did minstrels play in the ancient Greek world? You are to
write a well-written, gramatically correct essay on this subject.
You must have a beginning, where you state your position, proof to
back it up, and a conclusion.
When
you complete these three tasks, you will be an expert on your
subject area of mythological characters, the minstrels, and the
elements that make a story a myth.
