The framers of the Constitution seem to have some pretty good ideas, and it seems to have worked up to this point. But what does it all mean? How do all of those articles and amendments affect your life? The concept of the Constitution can be difficult to understand, and that is where you are going to step in and help someone out. You are going to design two pages of a book that is going to be directed toward fifth graders. You will be assigned a section of an article of the constitution and an amendment. Your goal is to take the language of our Founding Fathers and interpret it in a way that a fifth grader can understand. This page must be appealing as well as informative. Use the following guidelines to create your page.
State the Original Amendment
Give the Date it was Ratified
Number of Votes it Passed By
Explanation of the Article/Amendment in your Own Words
Graphics Depicting the Meaning of the Article/Amendment
For extra credit you may add another section to the book:
Explain things that seem to be the law (i.e. Separation of Church and State), but are not mentioned in the Constitution. Use an abridged format of the above guidelines. Be creative. Remember, it is extra credit!!!!!
