Suggestions for developing your math formulas - see
  • You are comparing the land/sea distances to air distance. Make sure that your difference formula and percent formula reflects this.
  • In mathematics, subtraction is not closed over the set of positive numbers. Your differences and percents can be positive or negative.
  • Remember, that a percent means per hundred. You are comparing a part to a whole and putting it into percent form.
  • All formulas entered in the computer spreadsheet must be agreed upon by the group.
  • Make sure that your first few calculations are reasonable. Rethink and adjust your formulas or your spreadsheet format if necessary.
