Access for All
Beginning in 2020-21, all Shelby County Schools students will have access to a new District-issued digital device to support and expand learning opportunities.
Following a historic Board vote on Monday, June 15, Supt. Ray's 1:1 Digital Device Plan will place a new device in the hands of 95,000 SCS students. The plan puts SCS on track to become the first fully 1:1 digital district in the state of Tennessee. It also aligns with the District's ongoing commitment to student equity and 21st century learning to prepare our students for college and careers.
We know access to a device alone is not enough, and this plan in no way replaces the importance of live, teacher-led instruction. Distribution of devices is tentatively set to begin in August 2020, along with a robust support plan that includes professional development for educators, training for students and families and security protocols to ensure digital safety and protect student privacy.
