Discounted tickets for the 2019 Alumni Hall of Fame Gala are now available for SCS employees. Join us on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Hilton Memphis as we honor the newest group of outstanding SCS alum.

Each year, the SCS Alumni Hall of Fame honors notable graduates of Shelby County Schools for their accomplishments and work in the community. Past honorees include Kathy Bates, Penny Hardaway, Maxine Smith and Shep Wilbun.

The 2019 Alumni Hall of Fame Gala will include a cocktail reception, dinner, silent auction and live entertainment from SCS students and winner of Fox TV hit show, “The Four,” Evvie McKinney.

2019 Alumni Hall of Fame Inductees

Barbara Cooper State Representative
Manassas High School

House District 86 Representative, Barbara Cooper, has served as a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives since the 100th Tennessee General Assembly (1997–1998). Cooper is a retired educator and vocal community advocate for Shelby County families and students. Currently in her role as Tennessee State Representative, cooper serves as a member on the House Health Committee, the House Consumer and Human Resources Committee, the House Consumer Subcommittee and the House Facilities, Licensure & Regulations Subcommittee.

Claude Humphrey NFL Hall of Famer
Lester High School

Clause Humphrey is a retired NFL defensive end player and Hall of Famer. Humphrey began his pro football career in 1968 as a first-round draft pick for the Atlanta Falcons. During his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, Humphrey played in Super Bowl XV. In addition to his 2014 induction to the NFL Hall of Fame, he is a member of the Georgia Hall of Fame and Tennessee Hall of Fame.

Tony Madlock University of Memphis
Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach
Melrose High School

Tony Madlock is Assistant Coach for the University of Memphis Men’s Basketball team. Madlock, a former Memphis Tigers point guard, has a 20+ year coaching career that includes four seasons as assistant coach at Ole Miss and Ole Miss interim head in 2017-18. His coaching highlights also include serving as assistant coach at Arkansas State, Auburn University and his alma mater Melrose High School.

Keith Norman Pastor – First Baptist Church – Broad
Baptist Memorial Healthcare Vice President of Government Affairs
Carver High School

Keith Norman is the Pastor of First Baptist Church in Memphis’ Binghampton neighborhood. In addition to being a pastor and community advocate in Shelby County, Norman also serves as Vice President of Government Affairs for Baptist Memorial Healthcare and is a member of American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). Norman is a well-respected community advocate in the Memphis community and serves in various leadership roles around the city including his positions on the Board of Directors of the Memphis Shelby Crime Commission, Chair of the Tennessee Historical Commission and Immediate Past President of the Memphis NAACP.

Bert Adler Prosterman Civil Rights Activist
Central High School

Bert Adler Prosterman was one of Memphis’ most vocal non-minority advocates for public school desegregation in the 1960s. encouraged white families in the mid-south to be part of a peaceful integration process and avoid “white flight” to suburban and private schools. She was elected to the Memphis City Schools’ board in 1980 and was appointed Board president in 1982. During her time on the school board, she made both notable and controversial decisions that led to expanded integration of Memphis City Schools.
