During the merger, SCS School Board voted directed SCS administration to develop a performance-based compensation plan. The Board vote froze the teacher salary schedule for existing teachers and it was only used to establish pay for newly hired teachers. Throughout that period, the District provided teachers with bonuses or increases the amount of a step increase.
As part of the new compensation plan, the District developed new base salary amounts for new teachers based on years of service. To ensure that our existing teachers were making the SAME amount as new teachers with the same years of service, we established the leveling process.
