The benefits of Pre-K are undeniable. Pre-K students consistently outperform their peers who do not attend Pre-K and are more likely to be Kindergarten-ready -- a critical indicator of long-term learning success. Plus, Pre-K students are three times more likely to go to college.

Shelby County Schools has nearly 6,000 FREE Pre-K seats available across the county in SCS schools and community partner sites. Screening for 2019-20 is now underway. Children must turn 4 years-old by August 15 to be eligible.

The SCS Pre-K team is holding a series community screening fairs to help interested families get a head start on the 2019-20 school year. There will be lots of great information about the Pre-K screening process, as well as the transition from Pre-K to Kindergarten. Plus, there will be free food, games, bouncy house, petting zoo, selfie booth and much more. Dates are listed below. Parents intesrested in screening on site should bring their required screening documents.
