Kroger is extending Teacher Appreciation Week by donating $10,000 in gift cards to our teachers and schools. Kroger's motto is “Feeding the Human Spirit,” so a total of 10 teachers and 10 schools will be selected to win a $500 gift card for going above and beyond the classroom to support students. Prizes will be awarded based on community nominations May 13-20.
Examples of teachers who “feed the spirit” could be providing clothes, coats, food, etc. for kids who are in need, sponsoring extracurricular activities to support at-risk students, mentoring students outside of school hours, coordinating college/career visits for juniors and seniors outside of school hours, being compassionate and supportive to students and families dealing with personal matters, and so many other ways our teachers go the extra mile.
Schools should be nominated based on special activities and offerings for students and families – beyond standard teaching and learning initiatives – that address community issues. Examples may include anti-violence rallies, anti-bullying activities, food, clothing and necessity drives, etc.
