Cordova High School Students 'Howl Out Breast Cancer!'

Throughout the month of October, Cordova High School students have been “Howling Out Breast Cancer!” Sponsored by the Cordova High School Student Government Association (SGA), students have spent the month collecting donations from parents, community members and their classmates to raise money for Making Strides Memphis, an event  sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

On Saturday, October 19, SGA President Alena Arnold and Charnel Smith, Cordova HS teacher and SGA Sponsor, presented a check for $1000 to the American Cancer Society at Cancer Survivors Park. 

As a part of their fundraising efforts, the SGA also designed and sold pink shirts and created a “Wall of Hope” mural to display at the school.

"We are extremely proud of our SGA and student body for taking the initiative to collect donations and raise awareness for such an important cause," said Felicia Everson, principal of Cordova High School. "This is a perfect representation of the leadership skills we work to instill in all of our students."
