Thousands of students and teachers across SCS will be taking part in Jumpstart’s 15th annual Read for the Record Day on Thursday, October 29. Read for the Record Day brings together millions of children and adults around the world each year to read the same book on the same day in order to raise awareness about the critical importance of early literacy.

Please share pictures and videos of your school celebration and home reading activities on social media using #scsrftr2020.

Each year, Jumpstart selects a campaign book that fosters language and social-emotional development, honors the diversity in our world, has a strong narrative and appeals to young children.

Watch the trailer for this year’s campaign book, Evelyn Del Rey Is Moving Away by Meg Medina. The story is a celebration of lasting friendship, the power of connection and encountering change.

Watch Superintendent Ray read Evelyn Del Rey Is Moving Away.
