Appointments for early entry Kindergarten screening are available by calling the Department of Assessment at (901) 416-5450. Appointments are available during the following days:

• July 12 - 14 
• July 24 - 26
• July 31 - August 4

Who is eligible for Kindergarten?

If your child will turn 5 by August 15, 2017, early entry screening is NOT necessary because he/she meets the Kindergarten age requirement.

If your child will not reach age 5 by August 15, 2017, but will turn 5 by September 30, 2017, he/she can be screened for early Kindergarten entry.

If your child will not reach age 5 until after September 30, 2017, he/she is not eligible for Kindergarten until the 2018-19 school year.

What is involved in the screening process?

• An individual face-to-face assessment (approx. 30 min.)
• Potential students must meet the minimum score requirement to be granted early entry into Kindergarten.
