SCS Teachers And Students Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month #SCSNewsroom

Shelby County Schools honored Hispanic and Latino students and families with a special event celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month Wednesday at Kingsbury High School.

The "Honoring our Hispanic Heritage & Celebrating our Future!" celebration featured mariachi performances by students and Hispanic inspired dances by both teachers and students. Nine different SCS schools participated in the event.

Latino Memphis Executive Director Mauricio Calvo was the honored speaker. Latino Memphis helps thousands of Latino families who move to the Memphis area get the resources they need to succeed and grow in their new community.

There was also a family resource fair including health care, arts and community groups.
