Five Seniors Earn 'National Merit' Honors

Five Shelby County Schools’ seniors have been announced as 2016 National Merit Scholarship recipients by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Each student will receive a $2,500 college scholarship. These 2016 National Merit Scholarship recipients were selected based on their strong combination of academic achievements, skills and potential for success in their college studies.

This year, 2,500 scholarship winners were selected from 15,000 Finalists from across the nation.

The following Shelby County Schools’ students have been awarded a 2016 National Merit Scholarship:

Germantown High School

Apurva Kanneganti

White Station High School

Mary Katherine DeWane

Victor Gardner

John Thomason

Alicia Throne
