Students at Whitehaven Elementary will soon be able to enjoy even more STEM-related resources, thanks to a $5,344 grant from the Laura Bush Foundation for America's Libraries.

Whitehaven Elementary is one of 130 schools nationwide to recently receive a library grant from the Laura Bush Foundation, which supports school libraries and programs that encourage reading and learning.

"I am so excited about this opportunity to enhance and advance our library collection to reflect our diverse student body and STEM curriculum," said librarian Mycha Gladney-Williams.

Whitehaven Elementary plans to give its library a modern facelift using funds from the grant, adding STEM-related books and reading materials to the current collection. The library will even get a new name to reflect the school's focus on STEM: the "STEMedia Center."

"With a new and improved library, we can ensure that our students will have 21st century learning experiences at school and at home," said Tommy Elliott, principal of Whitehaven Elementary STEM School.
