Hundreds of Shelby County Schools students got a brand new backpack full of school supplies for free Friday afternoon.

The Women’s Foundation of Greater Memphis hosted the 38126 Back to School Project today at Booker T. Washington High School and LaRose Elementary. Every student in each of the schools received a backpack filled with school supplies, snacks as well as health and hygiene bags. The foundation also donated school uniforms for the clothes closet. Volunteers from FedEx, the Women's Foundation and teachers helped hand out the backpacks.
