White Station High School is home to the some of the top teen mathematicians in the country.

A group of students, led by coach Yanli Cui, recently placed in the top 20 in two national math contests hosted by the National Assessment & Testing. They finished 12th in the 2016 Fall Startup Event, an individual competition in which each student tries to solve as many problems as they can within a time limit. The problems range from basic math to calculus and include topics that are not covered in high school. The students earned a 19th place in the Team Scramble, an event where a group of students work together on much harder math problems within a time limit.

Freshman Kevin Luo led the team to the 12th place finish. Lou finished 3rd overall in the 9th grade division of the Startup event.
