SCS Schools Recognized For Successful Implementation of TN Behavioral Prevention and Intervention System

Nearly 100 SCS campuses are being recognized for successfully planning and implementing the state Framework for Response to Intervention2-Behavior (RtI2-B), a multi-tiered system approach to building a positive culture for student learning and engagement while creating a fulfilling environment for staff.  These schools are among those named for the School of Recognition and Model of Demonstration Awards for the 2021-2022 School Year

RtI2-B is the framework that ensures a progressive behavior prevention and intervention support system is adopted by all schools. RtI2-B seeks to assist in reducing behavior disruptions, helps address the true source of the disturbance and how to avoid the problem from happening again. RtI2-B was launched at SCS in 2019-20 as a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategy to serve two primary purposes.

  • To provide the system by which all schools plan and implement a series of expectations for building a positive school culture for maximum academic achievement.
  • To promote strong collaborations between Behavior Specialists, school counselors, and mental health, truancy and discipline professionals in the Student Equity Enrollment and Discipline (S.E.E.D.) office.

It also includes professional development, direct student support, consultation with school staff for continuous improvement, and data review support.

Overall, school teams are recognized for demonstrating a commitment to creating a positive school climate and shaping their environments to be places where students can be successful. Here’s an account of the SCS schools in each category:
