The VOICE of MSCS Talent Explosion

The District has named the first Voices of MSCS. Students pursing their passion to perform, took the stage and gave it their all. While four students came out on top, one was named the official winner. Shiloh Sanders of Germantown High School wowed the judges and the crowd with her rendition of Whitney Houston's “Greatest Love of All.”

 


Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) has some of the best talent in the Mid-South and the District is excited to see who will become the new VOICE of MSCS. Nearly 60 contestants were narrowed down to the top 10 finalists who sang their hearts out on the big stage. The inaugural District-wide Talent Explosion was held the Halloran Centre.

The top 10 were surprised at school with the GOLDEN TICKET to have the spotlight on the big day.

The student's grade-level and schools are as follows:

Benjamin Nguyen - 12th grade at Cordova High

Shiloh Sanders - 10th grade at Germantown High

Courtnie Wilson - 11th grade at Southwind High

Alexander Harris - 11th grade at Overton High

Owen Keeton - 12th grade at White Station High

Deonna Waller - 12th grade at East High

Pasley Thompson - 9th grade at East High

Morgan Woodard - 12th grade in the Adolescent Parenting Program

Sophie Barker - 12th grade at Central High

Rokenya Kahill - 12th grade at Central High

This event is focused on showcasing vocally artistic students throughout our District. Each participant will receive a full contestant package, including free professional headshots, entertainment industry mentorship opportunities and more. The top ten are also being mentored by local recording artists.

We’re calling on all community stakeholders to join in to help spotlight the passion of these young entertainers and support their journey to express themselves through music.
