MSCS Office of Charter Schools Leader to Receive Distinguished Award

Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) is proud to celebrate passionate leaders who excel in their profession. Brittany Monda, Assistant Superintendent for the Office of Charter Schools, is being recognized for her servant leadership through Teach for America’s Barbara Rosser Hyde Alumni Leadership Award. It honors alumni in Memphis who are doing innovative work to disrupt systems of inequality.

“Teach For America Memphis was the start to my career in education, and my introduction to Memphis – a city that I now call home,” said Monda. “It is humbling to be acknowledged for work that many individuals on our team are working through. Quality education for our students is very important to me, and being recognized for the work is an honor.”

Awardees are celebrated for profound acts of leadership and helping to ensure students are globally competitive, socially aware, and have access to opportunities that develop their leadership potential.

Brittany Monda started her career in education as a science teacher at Chickasaw Middle School. She later moved to a local public charter school focusing on all aspects of running a school, eventually serving as the Executive Director. In 2019, Monda transitioned to her role as the MSCS Assistant Superintendent for the Office of Charter Schools, overseeing approximately 20,000 students in 56 charter schools.
