Memphis-Shelby County Schools is proud to celebrate the Class of 2024! These graduates have worked through challenges and grown academically and personally. This uniquely resilient group navigated the challenge of starting their high school careers virtually as the world endured a pandemic.
Much like 24-karat gold is a precious metal, our students are precious assets who have been valued throughout their eventful academic careers. By the end of May 2024, 5,742 seniors will have turned their tassels and turned the page on their academic journey.
It’s graduation time! Southwind HS graduates celebrated their #24k milestone on Monday, May 13.Here are some of the ways they’re being celebrated and recognized:
Vals & Sals Celebration:
The top two students of each senior class were honored with a banquet where board members, community partners, and the Superintendent lauded their accomplishments. Click here to hear from students as they reflect on their journey.
Military Salute:
A unique group of students who pushed their bodies to the brink for physical training and rigorous discipline was honored at the District’s Military Salute. These future servicemembers reflected on their time in various JROTC programs and look forward to their next step! Click here to see highlights from the event.
Road to Success Senior Celebration:
All seniors were invited to attend the Road to Success Senior Celebration. From food trucks to fellowship and music, this giant trunk party offered scholarship opportunities, household resources, and information to future graduates and their families. 300 students, including 100 students who recently completed all requirements for graduation, left the celebration with an extra-special gift: a trunk, or “footlocker,” filled with college essentials!
