Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) has announced the finalists of the MSCS MHC Mental Health Matters Art Contest. The finalists' artwork will be showcased and recognized at the 12th annual Suicide Prevention Expo at White Station Middle School on September 21, 2024.
The contest encourages students to express their understanding of mental health through visual art. The finalists were selected for their creativity and ability to convey important messages related to mental well-being. Several of the 13 selected finalists represent Georgian Hills and Oak Forest Elementary Schools.
"We are delighted to celebrate the artistic talents of our students and their dedication to raising awareness about mental health," said Donna Goings, Director of the MSCS Mental Health Center. "Their artwork serves as a powerful reminder that mental health matters and that we all have a role to play in supporting one another."
The Suicide Prevention Expo is an annual event that brings together students, families, educators, and community members to learn about mental health resources and suicide prevention strategies. The finalists' artwork will be prominently displayed at the expo, providing a platform for these young artists to share their perspectives and inspire others.
