Riverwood Elementary Optional School came alive with the sights, sounds, and flavors of cultures from around the world during its annual International Festival. The event welcomed students, families, and community members for an evening of celebration, learning, and cultural exchange.

Participants proudly represented their countries through beautifully decorated booths, traditional attire, and authentic cuisine. The Colombia booth, for instance, drew visitors in with its bright yellow, blue, and red flags and a feast of typical treats such as arepas, empanadas, and sweets. Families dressed in their national soccer jerseys and cultural outfits shared stories about Colombian heritage, offering a glimpse into the rich traditions that make the country unique.
Another highlight of the event was a family representing Nigeria. Dressed in vibrant, matching blue floral-patterned traditional attire adorned with beaded necklaces, they stood proudly in front of the Nigerian flag. Their display offered visitors a look into the beauty and cultural richness of Nigeria, sparking curiosity and admiration from festival attendees.

Students were encouraged to visit the booths, ask questions, and experience the diversity that makes Riverwood such a vibrant learning community. The event showcased the importance of celebrating global backgrounds and fostering unity through cultural exchange, promoting inclusion, empathy, and appreciation for the world’s many traditions.
The festival featured not only food but also cultural performances, music, and interactive displays. With colorful backdrops, smiling faces, and the delicious aromas of home-cooked meals, the festival was a joyful reminder of the power of community and the richness of diversity.

Riverwood Elementary Optional School continues to foster global awareness and understanding, making events like the International Festival an integral part of its mission to prepare students for a diverse world.
