On Friday, December 13, Westside Elementary School hosted an alphabet fashion show. In an effort to promote literacy, the fashion show was far from ordinary. The students walked the runway wearing homemade vests representing a letter from the alphabet. For example, if the student was representing the letter “S,” the student’s vest was decorated with the sun and other items that start with that letter. Alongside the runway, families and staff were present to support the students. While some students were more shy, those who were less shy showed their dance skills as they walked.

Events such as these help foster an environment where students feel safe to creatively express themselves. Westside Elementary is doing just that by creating opportunities for students to engage in unique and interactive learning experiences. The fashion runway not only promoted literacy in a fun and innovative way, but it also allowed students to build confidence, collaborate with their peers, and showcase their individual creativity. By encouraging such activities, Westside Elementary continues to prioritize both academic growth and personal development, helping students thrive in a supportive and dynamic school community.
