Kindergarten Eligibility

Per state law, students must be 5 years old on or before August 15, 2019 to enroll in Kindergarten. However, students who will not turn 5 on or before August 15, 2019 may be considered for early entrance into Kindergarten. Please use the information below to determine if your child may be eligible for early entrance into Kindergarten for the 2019-20 school year.

Consideration For Early Entrance Into Kindergarten

  • If the student reaches age 5 by August 15, 2019, this meets the Kindergarten age requirement, and early entry screening Is NOT necessary.
  • If the student is not 5 by August 15, 2019, but will be 5 by September 30, 2019, the student is eligible for early kindergarten entry screening (See details on early entry screening below.)
  • If the student will not turn 5 until after September 30, 2019, he/she must wait until fall 2020 to begin Kindergarten.

Early Entry Kindergarten Readiness Screening

The early entry screening process includes an individual face-to-face assessment administered by MSCS personnel (approx. 30 min.). Potential students must also meet the minimum score requirement to be granted early entry into Kindergarten. Screening will occur during the summer.
