Shelby County Schools

Avon Lenox High School, recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of America's best high schools for the school years 2008-2009, 2009-2010, and 2010-2011, is on the move!  We have experienced many years of accolades for services that we provide for very special young people.  Avon Lenox High School is proud to have a strong and dedicated staff that provides an environment which ensures a quality program for each child, with linkage to the community at large.

A review of the past five years has revealed steady growth and development of the students, as well as the staff.  Staff assessments have shown that our students have raised their test scores, which has resulted in more students earning a classification in the advanced range.  Suffice it to say, more of our students are graduating with a regular high school diploma.  We are very proud that one of our students participated in a dual-college program.

The faculty and staff at Avon Lenox have received added degrees, enrolled in college courses, and participated in professional development activities.  As the Avon Lenox faculty and staff have become more knowledgeable, the Avon Lenox students have realized a greater level of success.  This has been proven by the number of students who are currently working at various jobs in the community, living in independent housing, and participating in other social activities that lend themselves to a better adjusted person.

Under my watch, Avon Lenox has been completely renovated.  Because I know the physical environment is an important part of any learning experience, I have worked toward this goal for many years.  I am very proud of our facilities, which includes an elevator.  I am especially proud that we now have a Parent Resource Center.

You are welcome to visit Avon Lenox any time.  Although we encourage our visitors to call before coming, it is not necessary.  We perform in the same top-notch manner whether or not there are visitors in the building.  At Avon Lenox High School, we love our students and want to share their successes with everyone concerned!
