Shelby County Schools

Greetings and Welcome to Mitchell High School!

All High School experiences should be a unique adventure where students are employed to achieve and receive the best education possible through a rigorous curriculum, new technologies, and advancements in teaching that are essential to the well being of our students.  We need to tap into the knowledge and the higher order thinking skills of our students in order for them to reach their potential.  It is imperative that we afford our students with the opportunity to connect to real life experiences and practices that will prepare them for the 21st Century.

It is critical that we start the year with renewed enthusiasm and new skills to advance to a differentiated instructional model.  Our goal is to model and transform our students into intellectual individuals who are capable of making quantum leaps into a diverse society.

Therefore, we must focus on quality instruction not excessive discipline.  We must increase the pace and consistently use effective instructional strategies and practices to increase student achievement.  We should expect to promote educational experiences that meet the academic needs of our students, parents, and community; while learning in a safe and challenging atmosphere, where our students will read with comprehension, write clearly, compute accurately, think, reason, and use technological means to solve problems.

If we employ these measures we will become the high school in America.
