Clubs and Organizations

 

ACT 20+ Club

Sponsor: Myra Key

Purpose: The 20+ Club recognizes students who have demonstrated high achievement on the ACT. The club serves to motivate and challenge others to also excel academically through weekly tutoring.

Requirements: Members must have a composite score of 20 or higher on the ACT.

Art Club

Sponsor: Eric Echols

Purpose: To promote art and fellowship among members. The club will provide an atmosphere where members can work and learn various art media.

Requirements: Members must have a passion for Art and follow school policies and procedures.

 

Distributive Education Club of America (DECA)

Sponsor: Lewis Myers

Purpose: To prepare students for the business world through competitions, leadership development and daily activities that develop employable skills.

Requirements: Members must pay National and Local dues by October 7th. Members must attend monthly chapter meetings and participate in all chapter events.

 

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)

Sponsor: Kimberly Greer

Purpose: To prepare students for the business world through competitions, leadership development and daily activities that develop employable skills.

Requirements: Members must pay National and Local dues by October 7th. Members must attend monthly chapter meetings and participate in all chapter events.

 

JROTC

Sponsor: Sgt. Lonnie Coleman and Sgt. Thomas Dailey

Purpose: The Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a program offered to high schools that teaches students (Cadets) character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity. Collectively, these lessons motivate students (Cadets) to be better citizens. In addition to promoting citizenship, JROTC also prepares students (Cadets) for college. The benefits of citizenship and college preparedness is reinforced by the information in the links below.

Requirements: Cadets must be enrolled in a JROTC class.

 

Mighty Hawk Marching Band

Sponsor: Kellen Christian

Purpose: The Oakhaven Mighty Hawk Band is an organization that is comprised of talented students from the student body. Members of the band are a disciplined group of students who are proud to support their team during the school year, as well as represent OHS throughout the state and region in various competitive and community service events. Members of the marching band devote a great deal of time and effort to building interpersonal relationships, increasing their musical abilities and working together in a team-building manner with the goal of achieving outstanding results throughout the year.

Requirements: Interested students must see Mr. Christian for additional requirements.
