                                 Gloria V. Golden, Principal

Greetings, Parents of Oakshire Elementary School, Home of the Mighty Dolphins.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the new instructional leader at Oakshire. Please know that the powerful teaching and compelling learning experiences that were established under the leadership of Dr. Rogers will continue. This school year, we are faced with several new challenges. The most important challenge we must face and conquer is the new state assessment called TN Ready. Our children will no longer answer simple multiple choice questions. They now will be faced with reading complex and informational text to answer questions, cite evidence, and justify their responses. Our children must be able to read two similar texts and be able to provide an opinion about the topic, or have the knowledge to compare and contrast the two texts.

This school year will be very crucial to the success of our school. With that, we need our children at school and on time, each and every day, ready and prepared to learn. Please know my door is always open to talk to you and hear your concern(s). I plan on meeting with the parents at the end of each month, so that you will have an opportunity to express your concerns and/or desires.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the Oakshire family and community.
