Shelby County Schools

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Ridgeway Early Learning Center! It is my pleasure to be the Principal of this truly wonderful school.  We are committed to providing a quality education to your children. We consider the worth and value of each child, and strive to meet his or her individual needs. Our preschool inclusion program practices provide all students with the opportunity to be successful. Involvement of children with disabilities as equal and accepted members of school community is valued. We welcome all children and believe that a quality preschool experience enriches and gives benefits throughout the child's life.

We are committed to building a solid foundation in the basic skills of literacy, writing, and math along with content areas in science and social studies.  The curriculum and instruction is designed to help all students reach their full potential. We recognize the connection among cognitive, language, social/emotional, and physical development, thus promoting the growth of the “whole child.”

Our program is based upon the premise that parents/caregivers are the child's first and most important teachers, and we must be partners in the education of the children. We believe that by providing school-wide programs and opportunities for parents/caregivers to play an integral role in the school community and receive family support, they will be able to better support the education of their children. We look forward to a very successful school year working with all of our families.

Mrs. Divalyn L. Gordon
