Art Department

The purpose of the art program is to develop students' knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts through a variety of art media and activities. Students develop awareness of the elements and principles of art through skill development and application, and they are taught the proper care and use of art materials. Students are exposed to famous works of art and guided in developing an appreciation for the aesthetic qualities of the arts.

Dance Department

Movement education is a course designed to enhance the child's self-image through discipline, technique, performance, and accomplishment. Students develop respect for the art of dance and learn basic dance terminology and kinesiology. Every child achieves success according to his/her own capabilities.
Movement is also used as a means to enhance the child's academic achievements through the extension of movement into the other arts and subject areas.

Music Department

Music at Rozelle is a multi-sensory experience. Listening, seeing, feeling and moving are all important in the curriculum, making music a natural discipline to help develop sensory perception and psychomotor skills. Academic skills are also greatly reinforced by incorporating basic skills and curriculum into the music program. All students have the opportunity to experience the Orff technique, which involves body movement, singing and playing musical instruments. General music concepts are taught which include instruments of the orchestra, composers (past and present), musical notation and composition, and basic musical symbols. For students with special talents, choruses are provided for grades K-3 and 4-6. Students receive after-school piano instruction and grades 4-5 are also are given the opportunity to participate in the strings program. Band has been added this year for grades 4-5.
